Site History

How far we've come.

Burning Violet came into existence on the 17th January, 2007 when Rise was bored, so wanted to make a graphics site. So, she named her site Requiem and used a subdomain on another site owned by Rise, and the URL was http://requiem.the-rise.co.uk. Rise did this just to make sure that the site would be worth putting onto a top level.

After a very short period of time (perhaps a month), hits started coming in to the site, and connections were starting to be built through affiliates, so Rise bought a top level domain. Unfortunately, Requiem wasn't available, so the site name was chosen after a long period of thought by Rise, and her asking people which names were good, etc.

Why Burning Violet? Well, Rise was on iTunes and came across a song called The Violet Burning by the John Butler Trio. Rise thought that this would be a good site name, with the two words switched, and so Burning Violet was born...again...kind of...:)

We're slowly growing, and now Rise has started a new site, http://www.unphased.org. Unphased is out there to give people that can't afford hosting a chance with a free site, and the opportunity to win a top level domain, and is soon to start offering cheap paid hosting packages.
