I will be using Adobe Photoshop with Adobe ImageReady for this tutorial. It can also easily be done with Animation Shop instead of ImageReady! :)
Here is the glitter fill that I used:
Please do not redistribute this glitter fill. To install it, copy the image into Photoshop, press Ctrl+A to select it all. Then click on "Edit" - "Define Pattern". Do this for all three parts of the glitter fill.
Firstly, create a new document with a transparent background, sized 350px by 200px. Type what you want your glitter to say in any colour in a large, fairly bold font.
Right click on your layer and click on "Blending Options" Now, use the following settings:
This is what you should have so far:
Now, duplicate your layer and click on blending options for the lower layer only. Change the stroke from 2px to 7px. Create a new layer below all layers.
Click on your middle layer (which you just changed the stroke to 7px on) and press Ctrl+E (or Command+E if you're on a Mac) to merge this with the bottom layer.
Next, right click on your bottom layer and click on "Blending Options". Use these settings:
Duplicate this layer twice, so as you have three of this layer in total. Now, right click on the middle of the copies, go to "Blending Options", and select the second glitter fill pattern. Then, do the same for the top layer of the copy, selecting the third glitter fill pattern.
Your image should look like this:
Next, Ctrl+Click the bottom layer, which will select the glitter text. Now click on "Image" - "Crop". This will get rid of the extra space around the graphic.
Now, click on this button to go to ImageReady (scroll right down if you are using Animation Shop):
In Imageready, have each frame display for 0.1 seconds and create three frames. In your first frame, have the very bottom and very top layer showing only. In your second frame, hide the bottom layer and make the layer above it visible. In your third frame, make your second layer hidden, and the one above visible.
Save it, and you're done!
Using Animation Shop? Here's how! First, have only the bottom and top layer visible. Press Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+Shift+C. This will copy all visible layers.
Open Animation shop and press Ctrl+V to quickly paste it into a new animation.
Go back to Photoshop and make the second from bottom layer visible and the bottom layer invisible, leaving the top one visible. Press Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+Shift+C.
Go back to Animation Shop and press Ctrl+L to paste the next frame in front of the first one.
Go back to Photoshop and make the third from bottom layer visible and the bottom two layers invisible, leaving the top layer visible. Press Ctrl+A and then Ctrl+Shift+C.
Go back to Animation Shop and press Ctrl+L to paste the next frame in front of the second one.
Press Ctrl+A to select all three frames and click on "Frame Properties". In the "Display Time" box, change it to 15.
Save it, and you're done!
